Here were are in October already and I know most people are already stressing about the upcoming holidays. I wish the great planner of the Calendar had properly spaced out the holidays so they didn’t hit our wallet at the same time of the year. I was reading an article on Associatedcontent.com about Surviving the Holidays in times like this and they had some great budget saving ideas to use for every holiday. Go to www.associatedcontent.com/article/2255235/surviving_the_holidays_during_the_recession to read the complete article.

Halloween is the first of the three and if you have kids, you know that buying costumes and even the candy to pass out, is not cheap. They suggest talking with friends, co-workers, and other parents to see if you can trade costumes from previous years. I read elsewhere that to take your child to a thrift store to create a costume, which is original and can be more fun. you can save more money by buying Halloween candy candy in bulk size rather than the smaller more expensive bags.

Not even a full month later and it’s time for Thanksgiving. If you’re lucky, you’ve been invited out of your home and you don’t have to bring anything but your smile, but if your not so lucky here are a couple money saving tips. Plan your meal early so you can buy items ahead of time and catch them when they’re on sale. Also, do a potluck style meal and designate a dish to each family attending. This takes a lot of pressure of the host as well as adds more flavor to the evening with all the different dishes.

Thanksgiving is barely over and already the Christmas decorations are coming out. The good thing about kids is that they love to make art projects and their love of art can save you some money this time of year. You can have the kids make ornaments for the tree, string popcorn for garland, and create other decorations with items from around the house. Start your Christmas shopping early and make lists so you can try to catch the items you are after on sale. Look at places online like amazon.com and ebay.com for good deals.

Regardless of your financial situation, try to enjoy the holidays by spending time with your family and friends, they are after all the greatest gift and they will understand if you can’t spend a lot this year. Joshua Loth Liebman says, “Treasure each other in the recognition that we do not know how long we shall have each other.”

Many folks would accept that practicing positive thinking is troublesome. Basically you are being asked to be chuffed about bad eventualities, how could we ever do that? It’s intrinsically opposite of our natural desire. But as true as it could be that these negative circumstances frequently frustrate and nullify our best will in the world, it is equally true that negative thinking won’t solve the difficulty either. Really, negative thoughts will only worsen the issue.

Determined negative thoughts compound your problems. The single thing that these thoughts will achieve is to strip away the one and only agent who can be trusted to mend the situation : you. This style of thinking more frequently than not leads only to fury and discontent, whilst offering no helpful worth. On the other hand, by thinking definitely you can nurture hope for progress, as well as relief over the situation. This helpful thinking also affords you the creativity to find out new and leading edge answers to the issues you’re working with, whilst inspiring an environment of confidence.

This is a vital lesson to be had. Due to our consistent exposure to negative info worldwide around us, be it violence or illness or misery, we’ve got an inclination to live in a shroud of negative ideas and these must be dumped. If care isn’t taken these negative thoughts will strip each shred of hope and contentment from our daily existence, leaving nothing except fear and despair at our own incapacity to mend the situation. Your thoughts are outstandingly robust ; they are capable of determining precisely who you are today and what you can finish in the various years left of the future.

Tuning our minds towards positive things involves coaching our minds so that our angles and thoughts will produce positive physical manifestations.

Everyone wants to feel successful in their lives, no matter what their background or status level, to do so you must be able to set personal goals that you will achieve. By that I do not mean setting goals that you could achieve without applying effort, they do not give you a feeling of success.

It is a well known fact that over 90% of the population have never set a goal in their lives, at least that is what they say when in fact they unwittingly set goals every day of their lives.

Setting personal goals can be a short cut to success, it is definitely one of the most powerful and effective techniques that will not only help you attain your goal but also to feel successful.

You don’t set goals? Well let us look at goal setting from a slightly different angle. Have you ever booked a holiday? That is a goal - just look at what you have to do in order to prepare so that you are ready to embark on the journey that will successfully take you to your holiday destination and you are seeing the steps you must take to realize every personal goal you will ever set in your life.

Let’s break this down into steps to explore how going on holiday is equivalent in goal setting terms to whatever major goal you could wish for yourself.

1. In order to set a goal you need to know where you want to end up, what you really want. Remembering the story of Alice through the looking glass when she tumbled down the path and stopped at a crossroads, not knowing which road to take she looked up and saw the Cheshire Cat, she asked him which road to take, he replied “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know,” said Alice “Then it does not matter which road you take”, the cat grinned. When you planned your holiday you knew exactly where you wanted to go and Hey Presto! You got there. If only you looked that way at the rest of your life and realised just how many goals you set each day that are successfully accomplished because you know where you want to end up and plan to get there.

2. I don’t know about you but I find I remember things best when I write them down I think it is called motorised learning or something like that. So when I write my goals down I remember them and I am able to repeat them over and over in my mind. When I do a strange thing happens, things happen that help drive me and my actions towards my goals and I achieve each one. Unlike most teachers of goal setting I do not encourage you to set a deadline for achieving a goal. You see if I have a deadline I get stressed out as the time approaches and goal achievement does not happen if you are stressed, to achieve the goals just see below.

3. Now for the big secret in goal achievement. This secret is so great I do not want you to tell anyone else it is only between you and me. In setting a goal I know it will never come about unless I follow this secret, the secret to successful goal planning and achievement is —– wait for it —– to take ACTION. So many people say they want to do something and then do nothing in the hope that a magic genie will appear and make their dreams come true. The difference between a dreamer and one who fantasises is a dreamer dreams and then takes action to make the dream happen one who fantasises, dreams and does nothing but dream.

As long as you bear these simple steps in mind you will achieve your goals although there are another two magic ingredients that when you add them to this mix guarantees that you will achieve every goal you ever set no matter how big, and how far outside of your present comfort zone, but that is for another day or if you cannot wait you could click on the link in the box below to find out.

The easiest way to describe organic foods would be to say its Food not played with.

It seems today that there are food producers that never stopped playing with their food and now play with yours as well.

To be certified one must grow or produce the food in a way that is set out in the Organic Food Production Act. Then apply and pass the checks done.

When was the last time you had a tomato that tasted like a tomato? For me, it was for the benefit of taste. I had boughten these wax looking, square conventionally grown tomatoes the week before. They left me disappointed.

When I bought that first certified tomato and tasted it it was real. It was a tomato. Just like mom grew in her garden.

Ever consider starting your own organic vegetable garden at home? Small spaces are no longer a barrier with the introduction of container gardening. You could even start by just growing your own herbs. Click here.

The difference is in more than just the taste. When produce and grains are grown they need minerals in a rich soil to be healthy plants. The land and the plant work together. Both need to be taken care of with love you could say.

The conventional foods are often grown in soil that has a decreased level of minerals. The low quality soil makes the plants grow weaker and at effect of bugs and disease. Instead of fixing the underlying problem. That of soil quality. All kinds of wacky solutions are entered into the mix.

These foods grown with love do not use harsh pesticides and growth hormones. Further, genetic alterations are taboo.

Since irradiation to preserve the food isn’t used , you’ll find the produce is more often local. With the labeling of popular foods it is no wonder the trend is toward this wholesome food for all its benefits.

Why all this emphasis on wholesome foods? Find out how to sift through the grocery store for nutritious food. You too, can win from organic food benefits by taking a sensible approach to change. Small improvements all add up to your own set of benefits.

The Law of Attraction has attracted its recent attention in a big way due to “The Secret” DVD that was orchestrated by little known Australian author Rhonda Byrne.

Understanding the Law of Attraction will likely cause a tremendous shift in the way you approach your life. Whether it is to:

    * Create wealth

    * Lose weight

    * Attract and keep love

    * Be healthy

    * Quit Smoking

Or simply to experience abundance as you desire it.

Prosperity gurus over the ages have taught us that success (or lack thereof) is governed by various universal laws.

Universal meaning they work for everyone, whether you agree with them or not.

Universal meaning they work all the time, whether you are conscious of them or not.

Universal also meaning that they work whether you understand them or not.

Simply put, the law of attraction states that we attract into our experience that which, or that which is like what we are thinking about.

In other words, that which you really really want, you will get. As well, that which you really really DON’T WANT, you will also get.

This is a simple definition, but why complicate an otherwise simple concept really?

Of course, The Law of Attraction, (sometimes referred to as LOA) as a concept is neither new nor secret. Different personal development teachers have used different words to help others understand it.

Regardless, once you totally “get it” and are able to consciously put it to work for yourself, it will no longer seem so secretive.

Needless to say, it is one thing to learn how something works, yet another to put it to work. You MUST continue to TAKE ACTION as you consciously apply the Law of Attraction.

The key to remember is that using the law of attraction does not replace taking action. It complements it.

Many smart people amazingly don’t “get” the Law of Attraction concept. But then again, many of us have been subconsciously conditioned over time that in order for something to be worthwhile, it must be complicated.

The Law of Attraction is a very very simple concept to perceive, and it is even simpler to put it to work purposefully. Because, whether we understand it or not, this universal law is ALWAYS working in our lives.

The difference is that when you understand it and realize how simple it is to consciously use it, then you are able to drive your thoughts so that they are aligned with that which you are taking action to achieve, not the opposite of it.

You have been taking action and getting frustrated with the results. Or maybe it seems that you take a few steps forward and a few more backwards. Consider that you may be focusing on what you don’t want, instead of what you do want.

The Law of Attraction, whether you disagree with it or not, will work for you. Whether you apply it in ignorance or with deliberate intent, it is impartial.

Think of it this way. You need to drive from point A to point B. Do you keep thinking, “I don’t want To Not leave point A”?I’ll bet you think, “I want to get to point B”.

So, you get in your car, let up on the breaks, crank up the accelerator. You then keep moving to your destination.

More likely than NOT, you have always arrived at your intended destination. This is because your focus was on Point B.

If you had kept your focus on Point A, even as you drove toward point B, do you see how that is backward thinking?

If thinking “Point A” meant that your car automatically backs you up to point A, regardless of how far you have driven toward point B, would you do it? Makes no sense right?

So then, if your goal is to be healthy, or to weigh X lbs, you MUST keep your focus on what you do want. If you keep it on “I don’t want to gain weight”, your focus then is “to gain weight”.

Similarly, if you think, “I do not want to be broke”. Your focus is on “to be broke”. You must think, “I want abundance”.

Sounds simple right? So how come it isn’t as simple when we attempt to apply it in our daily lives?

Do you have absolute belief of what you are attempting?

Back to our driving a car analogy, when you get in your car, and have an intention to drive to point B, do you not have absolute belief you will get to point B?

Are you normally filled with doubt? Are you thinking of all the possibilities why you might not get to Point B?

In light of the above, if you are one of those people who likes to feel Personal Power in directing your life, then conscious living in accordance with this universal law will feel extremely empowering. And why not you?

Why not consciously create abundance in your life?

# Affirmations

There are two great principles for achieving financial success. The first Principle is what we call the law of attraction. The law of attraction says that you are a living magnet. It says that your thoughts create a force field of energy that radiates out from you and attracts back into your life people and circumstances in harmony with them. Any thought you have, combined with an emotion, positive or negative, radiates out from you and attracts back into your life the people, circumstances, ideas and opportunities consistent with it.

HOW TO ATTRACT THE SUCCESS YOU DESIRE

Many people feel that this is perhaps the most important of all mental laws. It says that if you have a very clear idea in your mind of your desired goal, to become wealthy, and you can hold that idea in your mind on a continuing basis, you will inevitably draw into your life the resources that you need in order to achieve it. Every person who has become wealthy or successful has become wealthy and successful as a result of holding the idea of wealth and success in their mind long enough and hard enough, until they drew into their lives the resources they needed to accomplish it.

YOUR WORLD REFLECTS YOUR THOUGHTS

The second principle is called the law of correspondence. This mental law is very powerful. It says, “as within, so without.” It says that your outer world is like a mirror that reflects back to you what is going on in your inner world. And this law of correspondence says that everything that happens outside of you corresponds to something that’s going on inside of you. When we say that your outer world is a reflection of your inner world, we mean both at a conscious and at a subconscious level.

VISUALIZE YOUR GOALS CLEARLY

If you consciously believe that you have the ability to achieve your goals and you can hold a picture of those goals clearly in your mind long enough and hard enough, eventually your outer world will correspond with it.

THREE REFLECTIONS OF SUCCESS

There are three places where we see this law of correspondence. First of all, your outer world of people will correspond exactly with your own attitude. You will always see your attitude reflected back to you in the faces and the behaviors of the people around you. If you have a positive, optimistic attitude, people will respond to you almost immediately, even before you open your mouth, in a positive and cheerful way.

RELATIONSHIPS SHOW YOU WHO YOU ARE

The second area where we see the law of correspondence is in your relationships. Your relationships will always mirror back to you exactly the kind of a person you are. When you are happy and optimistic and at peace, your relationships will be happy and harmonious and loving. But when your thinking is disrupted or negative for any reason, consciously or unconsciously, this will be immediately reflected in your relationships.

INNER AND OUTER WEALTH

The third place you see the law of correspondence is with regard to your wealth. Your external world of wealth and financial accomplishment will be a mirror image of your inner world of preparation. The only part of the equation that you can control is your conscious thoughts, and if you can keep your conscious thoughts on what you want, on your images of wealth and affluence, eventually your external world of reality and experiences will reflect it back to you.

ACTION EXERCISES

Here are two things you can do to apply these principles in your financial life:

First, guard your thoughts carefully. Whatever you think about, combined with the emotions of desire or fear, you will attract into your life. Be sure that you are attracting what you want by continuing to think only about what you want.

Second, keep feeding your mind with new information, ideas and pictures of the person you want to be and the life you want to live. By creating this inner attitude of mind, you change the outer aspects of your reality.

Eat good Feel Good. Sounds like a pretty simple formula doesn’t it? I firmly believe people continue to underestimate the vital importance of proper nutrition.

If you want to look a certain way, you have to eat a certain way, it really is that simple. Especially if building lean muscle mass is your goal. If you want lean and strong muscles, then you have to feed your body lots of high-quality nutrients. This is best accomplished through a steady influx of high quality food.

It is best to eat at least 4 and as many as 6 meals per day. Of course, these meals should be well balanced and spread evenly throughout the day.

It’s best to determine your daily caloric intake that is geared toward yours physique goals. Then take that number and divide it by your number of meals. This should give you the amount of calories that you should be consuming in each meal. No matter what the newest diet’s say, it’s always boils down to calories in and calories out that determines wither you gain weight or lose weight.

To eat well structure your meals around high quality protein like eggs, fish, chicken, turkey, lean beef, skim milk and protein powders. Try to get at least 1 gram of protein per pound of weight, even closer to 2 grams per pound if you want maximum muscle in minimum time.

Make sure to get enough healthy fat, such as olive oil, fish oil, flaxseed oil, and canola oil. These have tremendous benefits from healthy brain and organ function to controlling cholesterol levels, maintaining joint health and will help you lose weight. It is also important for muscle growth and insulin sensitivity..

Now when you first decide to get healthy, it is challenging to eat 4- 6 healthy meals per day. This is why you should take advantage of the many protein powders, meal replacements and protein bars on the market. Quick low calorie meals in minutes. Or can make your own smoothies in your blender. If you don’t have a blender, get one!, they are invaluable for quick nutrition.

Nutritional supplements have definitely gone mainstream. They definitely make it easier on our quest to get healthy. Everyone, from the weekend warrior to Olympic athletes realize the importance of supplementing their diets. Combined with a balanced approach to healthy living, you can harness the power of eating well to keep you looking and feeling well…

A very important part of the whole creative visualization process is developing a sense of prosperity. This means having the understanding, or consciously taking the point of view, that the universe is abundant, that life is actually trying to bring us what our hearts and souls truly desire — spiritually, mentally, emotionally, as well as physically. Almost everything you truly need or want is here for the asking; you only need to believe that it is so, truly desire it, and be willing to accept it.

One of the most common causes of failure when seeking what you want is “scarcity programming.” This is an attitude or set of beliefs about life that goes something like this:

There isn’t enough to go around….
Life is suffering….
It is immoral or selfish to have enough when others don’t….
Life is hard, difficult, a vale of tears….
You must work hard and sacrifice for everything you gain….
It’s more noble and spiritual to be poor….

These are all false beliefs. They are based on a lack of understanding of how the universe works, or a misunderstanding of some important spiritual principles. These beliefs are not of service to you or anyone else; they simply limit all of us from realizing our natural state of prosperity and plenty on all levels.

At the present time there is a reality in this world of starvation and poverty for many people, but we do not need to keep creating and perpetuating that reality. The fact is that there is more than enough to go around for every being on earth, if we are willing to open our minds to that possibility, and change our ways of using and distributing the world’s resources. The universe is a place of great abundance and we are all meant to be naturally prosperous, both in material and spiritual wealth, in a way that is balanced and harmonious with one another and with the earth that nourishes us.

In modern times, humankind has lost touch with its natural state of prosperity. Together, we are creating a world vastly out of balance, in which a relative few have far more than they need and are using up our natural resources at an alarming rate, while the majority suffer from serious lack. We are all responsible for creating this reality, and we can change it by changing both our way of thinking and our way of living. We need to reclaim our ability to appreciate and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Many of us in the industrialized world need to cultivate a simpler, more natural lifestyle. We need to realize that after our basic needs are met, the experience of abundance has more to do with expressing our creative gifts in satisfying ways, and learning to give and receive in a balanced way, than it does with extravagant consumerism.

The truth about this earth is that it is an infinitely good, beautiful, nourishing place to be. The only “evil” comes from a lack of understanding of this truth. Evil (ignorance) is like a shadow — it has no real substance of its own; it is simply a lack of light. You cannot cause a shadow to disappear by trying to fight it, by stamping on it, by railing against it, or by any other form of emotional or physical resistance. In order to cause a shadow to disappear, you must shine light on it.

Take a look at your belief system and see if you are holding yourself back by not believing sufficiently in the possibility of prosperity. Can you actually realistically imagine yourself as a successful, satisfied, fulfilled person? Can you really open your eyes to the goodness and beauty and abundance that are all around you? Can you imagine this world transformed into a prosperous and supportive environment in which everyone can flourish?
You will experience difficulty in creating what you want in your personal life unless you view the world as a good place to be and a place that works for everyone.

This is because human nature is basically loving, and so most of us will not allow ourselves to have what we want as long as we believe that we might be depriving others in order to do so.

We have to understand in a deep way that having what we truly want in life contributes to the general state of human happiness and supports others in creating more happiness for themselves.

To create prosperity, we need to visualize ourselves living as we desire to live, doing what we love, feeling satisfied with what we attain, in a context of other people doing the same.

In a spirit of fun, try this exercise to stimulate your imagination and expand your ability to visualize true prosperity:

ABUNDANCE MEDITATION

Relax completely in a comfortable position.

Picture yourself in any lovely natural environment — perhaps by a green, open meadow with a lovely brook, or on white sand by the ocean. Take some time to imagine all the beautiful details, and see yourself fully enjoying and appreciating your surroundings. Now begin to walk, and soon find yourself in some totally different surrounding environment, perhaps exploring a waving field of golden grain, or swimming in a lake. Continue to wander and explore — finding more and more exquisitely beautiful environments of great variety — mountains, forests, deserts, whatever suits your fantasy. Take a little time to appreciate each one.

Now imagine returning home to a simple but comfortable and lovely environment, whatever would most suit you. Imagine having loving family, friends, and community around you. Visualize yourself doing work that you love, and expressing yourself creatively in ways that feel just right for you. You are being amply rewarded for your efforts, in internal satisfaction, appreciation from others, and financial return. Imagine yourself feeling fulfilled and thoroughly enjoying your life. Step back, and see if you can imagine a world full of people living simply yet abundantly, in harmony with one another and the earth.

During a meeting of top salespeople from around the country, the ‘big cheese’ himself, a man who’d consistently had the highest sales figures for the last 20 years, and who earned more money than even the owner of his company, got up to speak.

“I am now going to reveal the secret of my success,” he said. “I wrote it down on a piece of paper and I put it in this envelope. But success must be earned. So I’m going to sell the envelope to the highest bidder. You have my word that it contains what I said - the Secret of my Success, not only as a salesman, but also in life.”

The bidding started slowly… $5, then $10, then $50, $100, $130, $150, $200. Finally one of his colleagues bought the envelope for $1000.
The happy buyer took the envelope and kept it to himself until he got home that night. Only then did he open it to learn THE SECRET OF SUCCESS.

What do you think was written on the piece of paper?

Think about it. Make a mental note of whatever comes to mind before reading the answer and in my opinion, what was written on that piece of paper, is worth much more than $1000.

The winner of the auction tore open the envelope, unfolded the piece of paper and read the following hand-written words: THE SUCCESS’ SECRET IS… TO ASK.

Here are some of my favoritequotes written by various authors, please enjoy.

The mind is like a river; upon its waters thoughts float through in a constant procession every conscious moment. You stand on a bridge over it and can stop and turn back any thought that comes along. The art of contentment is to let no thought pass that is going to disturb you. -Dr. Frank Crane

When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it - but all that had gone before. -Jacob Riis

Bear in mind, if you are going to amount to anything, that your success does not depend upon the brilliancy and the impetuosity with which you take hold, but upon the ever lasting and sanctified buldoggedness with which you hang on after you have taken hold. Dr. A. B. Meldrum

“The best motivation is self-motivation. The guy says, I wish someone would come by and turn me on. What if they don’t show up? You’ve got to have a better plan for your life than that.” –Jim Rohn

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours…If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.” — Henry David Thoreau

CHANGE BEGINS WITH CHOICE is a great motivational story written by Jim Rohn, enjoy.

Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to change it all. Any day we wish; we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge. Any day we wish; we can start a new activity. Any day we wish; we can start the process of life change. We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year.

We can also do nothing. We can pretend rather than perform. And if the idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain as we are. We can choose rest over labor, entertainment over education, delusion over truth, and doubt over confidence. The choices are ours to make. But while we curse the effect, we continue to nourish the cause. As Shakespeare uniquely observed, “The fault is not in the stars, but in ourselves.” We created our circumstances by our past choices. We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices beginning today. Those who are in search of the good life do not need more answers or more time to think things over to reach better conclusions. They need the truth. They need the whole truth. And they need nothing but the truth.

We cannot allow our errors in judgment, repeated every day, to lead us down the wrong path. We must keep coming back to those basics that make the biggest difference in how our life works out. And then we must make the very choices that will bring life, happiness and joy into our daily lives.

And if I may be so bold to offer my last piece of advice for someone seeking and needing to make changes in their life - If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree. You have the ability to totally transform every area in your life - and it all begins with your very own power of choice.

To Your Success, Jim Rohn

ACTION LEADS TO SUCCESS is a great motivational story written by Mark Victor Hansen.

Visualization is the most important foundation of success. You first have to figure out what it is that you truly want love, respect, wealth, etc. Second, you have to believe that these things are already yours. See yourself as having that loving relationship. Visualize yourself being respected and admired by your peers. Know that you are bringing home a million dollars a year.

Third, you must create a plan to bring these things into your life one action step at a time.

Wanting, desiring, wishing these are all important parts of achieving your dreams. But participating in the realization of your dreams by taking action says, “Hey, I believe that what I want is possible so now I’m moving forward to get it!” You are showing that you have decided what you want and deserve, and that you have identified the action steps necessary in attaining your dreams and desires.

In the beginning, taking action may seem a little scary. You’ll probably feel butterflies in your stomach when you take that first step. You may even think the fear will stop you, at some point. But think of how you would feel if you never tried. If that doesn’t convince you, close your eyes and imagine the overwhelming joy of seeing your dreams realized! There you are in your new home, or your fulfilling relationship, or getting that promotion!

Don’t be surprised when fear shows up before you take action. Greet it with a smile and say, “Hello, I figured you’d probably be showing up.” Then turn your back to it and take that step anyway. You will be rewarded for your decisive action.

In the year 1723, a seventeen year-old boy arrived in Philadelphia without a penny to his name. At age 42, he retired, wealthy. Few men, before or since have ever been as successful as Benjamin Franklin. He gave credit for his many inventions and business successes to this list of 13 principles. Each of them should be practiced in order, for a week at a time, so that all of them become a habit in your life. They’ll work as well today as they did then.

Temperance: Eat not dullness; drink not to elevation.

Silence: Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself, avoid trifling conversation.

Order: Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have it’s time.

Resolution: Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve.

Frugality: Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; waste nothing.

Industry: Lose no time; be always employed in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions.

Sincerity: Use no harmful deceit; think innocently and justly; and if you speak, speak accordingly.

Justice: wrong none by doing injuries or omitting the benefits that are your duty.

Moderation: Avoid extremes; forebear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.

Cleanliness: Tolerate no uncleanness in body, clothes or habitation.

Tranquility: Be not disturbed at trifles, nor at accidents.

Chastity: Be chaste in matters with the opposite sex.

Humility: Imitate Jesus and Socrates.

One of my favorite great quotes by Josh Hinds on how to look at business: “Business is a game. The minute you think of it any differently it ceases to be fun and immediately begins to control your life and ultimately drives you crazy with wild obsessions & eventually ruins your family life. Keep things in perspective. First family, second friends, and third your business. Practice this and you’ll be much happier for it. And your business will be much happier as well.”

Tis the season of resolutions and renewed promises to improve your health and habits. However, as with every year, it is easy to become discouraged when you can’t meet the high standards of your personal goals. Here’s a tip for anyone who is determined to reach their goals: Give yourself a break.

You are human and you do not, as far as you know, possess any magical powers. Why, then, should we expect significant results that would otherwise take years, to happen in a matter of weeks? If you want to set a goal for yourself that is realistic and, most importantly, fair, then you need to look in the short term. Reward yourself after taking a small step toward improving your life. After all, what a goal is is a behavior modification made in hopes of seeing a positive result.

No matter what your personal goals are, make sure you realize that you might not see success overnight. It will take a while until your mind will allow you to realize the short term success that you’ve had. Once you allow yourself to appreciate your progress, you will have the fuel you need to stay on track until you reach all of your long term goals. Your resolutions will be real this year because you will begin tackling your personal goals quicker than you ever imagined. You will change your life for the better this year.

So you’ve made a resolution this year that you want to keep. You want to get fit and lose weight. Here are 3 steps to getting fit that will help you drop those pounds and get back into shape:

1. Take whatever activity level you’re at and double it. If you haven’t worked out in a while, start at 30 minute intervals. Work out at least 5 times a week to start. This will kick your body into high gear and help you see results fast so that you don’t get discouraged.

2. When you go shopping, make sure half of your cart is fruits, veggies and whole grains. Truthfully, people don’t need snacks to survive, so why is it one of the most successful industries out there? You don’t need it and snacks do not promote weight loss. Cut out the chips, cookies, fried foods, high sugar cereals and high fructose corn syrup. Studies show that people who don’t do anything else but cut these foods out lose, on average, 15 pounds. That’s how bad they are for you! You don’t need them, don’t eat them.

3. Learn to eat to fuel your body. Gone are the days that you can get away with eating to ease stress or sadness. Push yourself away from the table just before you feel full. That is the perfect amount of food for your body. It is your responsibility to make sure you aren’t consuming more than you need.

Follow these three basic rules and you will be fitter and thinner than ever before. It will happen faster and easier than it ever has before!
